Sweet Tooth

During their three or four year existence, St. Louis' Sweet Tooth had one thing on their minds while writing music. Speed. Just about everything else came together after that. Bands like this never last because they're too fast and out of control, but that's what makes them so grand. Sweet Tooth never had the opportunity to fuck up. This shit is solid thrash goodness. Start off with their latest and work your way down. If you dig the bands below you won't be disappointed.

Absolut

Picture of Absolut
Toronto's Absolut is a powerhouse of d-beat mayhem.  This outfit plays a ripping and non-stop brand of hardcore punk with heavy distorted guitars, undeniably awesome solos, thunderous drum insanity and vicious vocals coated in reverb.  Since their 2013 demo, these guys have made a permanent mark in the scene and surely don't fuck around when it comes to creating intense sounds of absolute madness.  These guys rip so goddamn hard it's impossible to explain.  I have no reason to lie to you, Absolut owns!  Snag everything below and pray they don't break up anytime soon.  Dig!

Crooked Cross

Here's some dirty, noise-saturated blackened punk from Crooked Cross.  This was a one-time project from some black metal/hardcore/punk veterans that released an ugly masterpiece of a 7" back in 2011.  These guys were nasty and menacing to say the least and I really wish they had lasted a little longer to see what could have become of these grimy punks.  Snag their only release below and definitely check out their previous/current projects for more madness.  Dig.

Bouquet

Bouquet. First and foremost, love the name. It just throws you through a loop once you hear their music because Bouquet doesn't really fit their style. It's kind of like a grimy punk n' roll if I were to categorize it, I guess. Whatever. It's catchy, quick, fun, and I can't stop listening to it.

The Brass

Vancouver's The Brass play a more modernized version oi punk. It's faster, heavier, and frankly more pissed. You might think their straight ahead oi format of memorable hooks and moshy anthems is going to be another rip off, but The Brass do it with originality without sounding dated.

Shock

Demo cover art
Bordeaux, France's Shock dropped an assaulting noise-drenched punk demo a while back and I found myself cranking it a lot lately.  I instantly needed to share this messy, lo-fi and barbaric mayhem to whoever hasn't had the privilege of hearing yet.  I don't know what their planning, if anything, for future releases but snag this thrashy hardcore treat below and hope for more.  DIG!!!

Sexdrome

Sexdrome is a dirty, raw blackened punk band out of the great Copenhagen, Denmark.  This band is an uproar of sexual tension, destruction, and violence.  I've seen videos of them live and they are insane.  Fist fights break out during every song and usually involve the singer.  Blood, sweat, and erections.  They're dead now but left some awesomely fucked up music behind.  Dig.

Subclinix

I definitely slept on this one for a while.  Boston's Subclinix dropped an awesome demo back in 2011 that i'm just now sharing my love for on this rocking hardcore outfit's debut.  The Subclinix demo is coated with a grungy basement sound and captures their catchy and twangy guitar leads, nonstop drums, plucky bass lines and reverb-soaked vocals beautifully.  This shit rips.  Wish there was more.  Snag below and dig.

No Statik

The Bay Area's No Statik is a punishing outburst of female fronted hardcore drenched with noisy feedback and oozing with rage.  Fast paced and in-your-face hardcore punk that's filled with squealing guitars, vicious shrieks, down-tuned bass, blasting drums and even some experimental sampling added to the mix.  Everything this band has dropped is fierce and refreshing to say the least.  Grab these ugly gems below and dig.

The Mites

The Mites are a band that transport you back to the mid 90's with their alternative pop qualities. If this trio were around 20 years ago, I guarantee they'd be on a soundtrack to some teen romantic comedy. Call it crazy, but that's just what their sound reminds me of. If that turns you away from this, maybe The Mites aren't for you. Hopefully their past musical endeavors will intrigue you to give them a chance anyway.

Abuse.

Raleigh, North Carolina's Abuse. will crush you.  This is some incredibly crushing powerviolence that blends elements of grind and crusty hardcore.  This heavy onslaught of blistering punk hits hard with buzzing riffs,  snarling grunts and maniacal drum insanity.  The band's pulverizing LP was a blessing for 2013 and is without a doubt one of the strongest releases of the year.  Snag their current discography below and hope for more soon.  Dig.
